From 8 to 10 May 2025, the minor cosmopolitanisms research training group hosted an intervention in Berlin centred on the themes of repair and collaboration. Within the framework of EVC, Lize Kriel (UP), in cooperation with Co-Making Matters, organised a roundtable entitled Art, Culture, Education and Global Contemporaneity – an Exploring Visual Cultures initiative. This roundtable took place on Friday 9 May at the Institute for European Ethnology, Humboldt University of Berlin, as a hybrid event. The panelists included Lize Kriel, Ernst Wagner, Bernadette Van Haute, Elsa Cuissard and Benjamin Mertin in person, while Paul-Henri Assako Assako, Avi Sooful, Runette Kruger and Viviane Tabach participated online.

The roundtable reflected upon our latest publication, namely a series of four books which took shape during and in the aftermath of documenta fifteen. The books are shaped around the following four topics: global art and local perspectives; constellations in art education; crossing borders in artistic interventions and collaborations; and responses to glocal challenges. Ernst Wagner introduced the four books and referred to the new ways of thinking about EVC’s work arising from this conference on collaboration and repair. With Bernadette Van Haute acting as moderator, each of the panelists briefly explained the core ideas in their chapter in the EVC book series and how they relate to the notion of repair in the context of minor cosmopolitanism and the colonial legacies we are living with today.
