Prof. Paul-Henri S. Assako Assako, Head of Art-History and Fine Arts Section, Department of Arts and Archeology, University of Yaoundé I, initiated a workshop for PHD Students focussing on the goal of implementing the EVC project in Cameroon. The main approach for doing research in this specific context was dealing with aspects of the Cameroonian ‘collective memory’ as a pool for educational purposes:

  • How is the collective memory as Cameroon’s heritage from around 1957 shaped?
  • How is the aspect of "the nation" related to the different communities in Cameroon forming todays nation?

Lectures were given by Paul-Henri S. Assako Assako and Ernst Wagner, delivering an introduction into methods and skills needed for this kind of approach, and also exchanging experiences with this approach in already existing projects. The students gave presentations on a selection of objects they suggested as being relevant and accessible for further research. The following days the coordinators visited artists who might be interested in the project, including a visit and the Goethe Institute in Yaoundé
