On Monday 25th November, a pre-event to the 4th International TUK Exploring Visual Cultures Conference took place in the context of the Kenya Innovation Week at The Edge Convention Centre. The Motto “AI - Resilient and Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa” was introduced by Dr Mary Clare Kidenda, TUK and host as well as Dr Avitha Sooful, Chair of EVC. Lectures about the concept of sustainability were held by Prof Odoch Pido and Dr Ernst Wagner. After the break the topic “AI & Art - a decolonial perspective” was introduced by Dr Ernst Wagner, based on the concepts developed at the UNESCO Chair in Digital Culture and Arts Education in Erlangen. The program concluded by a workshop on “Generative AI as Cultural and Educational Agent. Navigating Diversities - Confronting Biases” in the context of a research project at the UNESCO chair.
