Reflections on the International Conference and Exhibition held in Nairobi, Kenya
The 4th International Technical University of Kenya - Exploring Visual Cultures Conference/ Exhibition themed "AI: Media Innovations, Applications, Visual Culture, Challenges and Future Trends” hosted in Nairobi, Kenya in November 27-29, 2024 brought together students, artists, scholars, curators, and cultural practitioners from around the world to engage in a deep exploration of visual cultures. Compelling keynote addresses was delivered on diverse topics. The accompanying exhibition showcased a diverse cutting-edge AI-generated art in various forms and photography. Artists from across Africa and the diaspora presented powerful visual stories reflecting themes of identity, heritage, resilience, and technological evolution. The exhibition portrayed how artists from diverse backgrounds are leveraging AI and digital tools to expand artistic expression that allow for exploration of innovative possibilities and engage audience in immersive and interactive ways.
