A possible use in class could be the following: Show the pupils Paulo Nazareth's art object and tell them about the background of the art object. The pupils ask themselves the problem question: How can we contribute to more clean water in the world? Different ideas are collected and discussed. The teacher tells the pupils that there will be a day of action on this topic and that they can present their ideas there.

 

One idea is to organise a fundraising marathon. In the fundraising marathon, a distance has to be covered in different shoes. A bucket of water is carried in both hands and must be handed over without spilling water. Each lap that is completed raises money. The pupils and parents choose a type of shoe (e.g. sandals, rubber boots, sports shoes) and try to run as many laps as possible.

 

The money raised is either donated to an organisation that works for clean water or to a special project, for example the construction of wells.

 

The different types of shoes are meant to show people and children how much effort it takes and how difficult it often is to carry the water from A to B. The shoes are also meant to show the children how difficult it is to carry the water from A to B.
