A 500 Ksh note
The Kenyan currency has some beautiful art, colour, & texture. Coloured plastic was able to capture the details of one of the currency series, a 500 Ksh (Kenyan shilling) note. Kenyan currency series which have some beautiful art, colour and texture, though it’s illegal to create an artwork out of of the legal tenders without authorization. This was done for academic purposes. Coloured plastic was able to capture the details of one Ksh 500 note. The artist was inspired by a figurative and social change theme. The use of mixed media and mosaic was applied to achieve the final piece.

You could be shopping in the streets then all over a sudden the vendors take off in fear of the council security enforcers. Composition depicts a scene in the city streets with hawkers running. The artwork uses a broad range of dark/highlights as well contrasting and complimentary colours capturing the moment. The researcher had an imagination of Integration of foreign culture into Kenya’s shopping culture thus depicted in the composition. The mood and expression of the collage seems to be a hasty and confusing state.

PP, PVC & HDPE cut out shapes are layered and assembled in the creation of the afro fusion version of Nairobi music scene. The artwork shows a broad range of dark/highlights grounds in the use of contrasting and complimentary colours. The researcher had an imagination of Integration of foreign culture into Kenya’s music culture thus depicted in the composition. The mood and expression of the collage seems to be a happy one. Composition captured, merged current and past music trends and fashion. It’s a fantasy kind of theme with some distortion and exaggeration on the features. Afro Nairobi uses different cut out plastic sizes, colour and overlapping shapes to create perspective.

Layering technique was used to create a glassy and tactile texture. The composition depicts a beautiful maasai lady in her early adulthood. The Costumes and adornment used shows that its part of an initiation ceremonial outfit.
