Barbara Lutz-Sterzenbach, Prof. Dr., is an art educator and artist. She is Professor of Art Education and Visual Literacy at the University of Passau. Lutz-Sterzenbach studied art and German language and literature at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich (LMU) and art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Here she completed her doctorate with an interdisciplinary thesis on the episteme of drawing. Lutz-Sterzenbach taught at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and the LMU. She is a consultant for universities in the Association for Art Education, a member of the Art Council and the Working Group of University Teachers in Bavaria and editor of publications, including a series of textbooks and two art education journals. Lutz-Sterzenbach conducts research on the cognitive potential of drawing with interdisciplinary references and on images in education in the context of globalization/glocalization, diversity and transculturality. She has chaired interdisciplinary and international conferences.
