Runette Kruger is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Fine and Studio Arts in the Faculty of Arts and Design, Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa. Her research interests include Afrofuturism, utopian studies, social equity, agency, dissent, time and space. These various theoretical and philosophical frameworks are applied to the meta-analysis of visual culture and the underlying sociopolitical dynamics through which visual culture manifests. She is the national vice-chair of the South African National Association for the Visual Arts (SANAVA), and has published numerous journal articles and book chapters.
