FR: Dans cette œuvre, on observe une espèce de portrait avec des éléments du visage aux formes irrégulières et troubles qui laisse tout de même transparaitre un regard expressif, ses cheveux rouges contrastent avec le fond bleu. Les lunettes qu’il porte encadrent son regard perçant et il est vêtu d’un habit blanc. Les effets de peintures sur le fond et le corps de cet individu sont comme des variables externes qui érodent les éléments d’identité, déformant ainsi le visage de son humanité.
Dans une société où le culte de la personnalité, accentué par le marketing, est maître, la série «Voyage» traite des enjeux et défis qu’il faut surmonter pour conserver une identité commune à toute l’humanité. À travers des visages anonymes, difformes, effrayants et angoissants, l’artiste met l’humanité face la dégénérescence de cette identité qui constituerait une partie de sa mémoire.
EN: In this work, we see a kind of portrait with irregularly shaped facial elements that nevertheless reveal an expressive gaze. His red hair contrasts with the blue background. The glasses he wears frame his piercing gaze and he is dressed in a white suit. The effects of paint on the background and the body of this individual are like external variables that erode the elements of identity, distorting the face of his humanity.
In a society where the cult of personality, accentuated by marketing, rules, the series "Voyage", this painting is part of, deals with the issues and challenges that must be overcome in order to maintain a common identity for all humanity. Through anonymous, deformed, frightening and distressing faces, the artist confronts humanity with the degeneration of this identity which would constitute a part of its memory.
FR: Peintre et décorateur d’espace, Prochore NGUEGNANG TCHUIDJANG, alias Prod’or est né le 18 Juin 1986 à Mbalmayo. Détenteur d’un Master en Arts Plastiques et Histoire de l’Art obtenu à l’Institut des Beaux-Arts de Foumban (IBAF) et enseignant de ladite Institut, il vit et travaille à Foumban. Sa démarche artistique tourne autour de la peinture et de la décoration d’espace. Il a fait de nombreuses expositions à l’instar de l’exposition collective à l’Institut Français de Yaoundé en 2014 ou de l’exposition collective à l’Institut des Beaux-Arts de Foumban sur le thème « Du village à la ville » en 2012. Il s’intéresse actuellement aux problèmes sociaux et culturels à travers les altérations angoissantes et grotesques du corps, notamment du visage.
EN: Prochore NGUEGNANG TCHUIDJANG, alias Prod'or, a painter and space decorator, was born in 1986 in Mbalmayo. He holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts and Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts of Foumban (IBAF) and is a teacher at this institute. He lives and works in Foumban. His artistic approach revolves around painting and space decoration. He has had numerous exhibitions such as the group exhibition at the French Institute of Yaoundé in 2014 or the group exhibition at the Fine Arts Institute of Foumban on the theme "From the village to the city" in 2012. He is currently interested in social and cultural issues through the distressing and grotesque alterations of the body, especially the face.
